Pet Pal

Saturday, November 14, 2009

Pet Pal was originally painted with soft pastel as a birthday gift for my daughter’s friend Jess in October of 2007, and is taken from a photo provided from Jess of her dog. She is the original artwork of Sketchart26. For the purpose of this design I uploaded Pet Pal to IrfanView were I removed the original background. I then uploaded the new image to Coral Paint Shop Pro XP, where I added in a new background. The design features a small Sheltie with a rainbow background and the wording Pet Pal in pink print unless except a few designs that don’t have the rainbow background. It is now featured on products under the categories of Apparel, Accessories, For The Office, For The Home, Binders, Bookmarks, Invitations, Stationary, Letterheads and Unique Gifts Products. Meet Jaunldzy

Friday, November 13, 2009

Jaunldzy was first sketched and created out of my imagination in 2007. She is the original artwork of Sketchart26. It was put to me that Jaunldzy would make a good Bas-Relief, so after finding out what this meant I went about my way and began to carve her. She measures the size of A3 paper and is carved into MDF and then painted with Feast Watson Stain & Varnish Rich Jarrah Satin heat dried and sanded back then masked and painted outside with the Rich Jarrah Satin and heat dried and painted over with a coat of Jo Sonja's Gloss Varnish and finally heat dried again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bas-relief For the purpose of the design she was uploaded to Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XP, where I cut her out and added in a new background. The design features an alien like creature which takes on the form of a human.

Flying Pumpkin Man

Flying Pumpkin Man was created on Sunday the 18th of October. It was painted in Microsoft Publisher 2007 straight from my own imagination. This was the first time I have created a
image this way and I was very surprised with the outcome. I could not have asked for a better result. The image is now available on many products in my store. Below is one of the products I speak off.

I haven't been able to paint of late due to my asthma, but tonight I decided to step out of my comfort zone and bite the bullet and use watercolours. It's one of those mediums where I find myself working hard with. I also stepped out of my comfort zone on the topic and did a Halloween painting with the intent to use on some of my products in my Zazzle store. Whilst painting it I pretty much used the same technique I would when using oils and the watercolour techniques don't sit to well with me, but I am reasonably happy with the outcome.
Ill now put this into Photo bucket and play around with it a little to get the desired effects I'd like before adding it to any products on Zazzle.

Bones

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Bones come about as a result of a visit to the doctors today to pick up some results for an xray I had on my elbow. The xray was fine great results but whilst thinking about that and ideas for designs for T-Shirts for my online store and being bored waiting to get in to see the doctor I ended up sketching the image you see before you. I then took it home and uploaded it to the pc where I put it into IfranView and painted it. After that I made a t-shirt in my Zazzle store and then made a video to advertise it through YouTube. This was the end result.

Mixed work

Sunday, June 21, 2009

A busy day in the painting world for me last night and today. So last night I did some more work on my engagement card design as I wasn't happy with it.

I also did some work on my tiger landscape. I added in a shadow above the eye and a extra strip of to the side of his head near the ear.

I also painted another painting last night of a snow scape but may be doing some extra work to this one.

Today my niece gave birth to a baby girl which I will be going to see real so. But I wanted so much to give her something special so I decided to paint her my own card to go with her present.

I am also working on a big cat which is being painted on MDF Boards size 61 x 92 cm. The first step was just to outline it.

The second step is to begin putting in the underlying colours.

Design for engagement card & Tiger Landscape

Just completed this one in soft pastel on blue Colourfix paper 30 x 40cm in size. Once I sort the photos I will have this one done as a stop motion video, thanks to Julz taking all my photos as I worked. Thanks Julz . It's the first time I have attempted tigers in pastel, but was reasonable happy with the outcome. Painted mostly from my imagination although I used a reference for the tigers.

This is just a little design I have done for an engagement card on my shop. It's done with watercolour pencils and was painted on 18 06 09.

Todays work - Fathers Day Cartoons

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Ok so today I have been creating cartoons with fathers day in mind. These will have sayings to go with them on my store later on. But this is just the art work behind it. I first did these in graphite as sketches and then took a photo and uploaded them to the PC. Once I did that I then printed them of on watercolour paper which of course did the inking for me. Then using watercolours I painted them and took photos again once they were dry. I then uploaded them cropped the edges and then put them into paint where I edited them a little to get the end result.

Ducks

Friday, May 15, 2009

Last night was playing around with the pastels while looking at one of the photos I took on my road trip not long back. Now I didn't wish to give this the exact look of the original photo as I wanted to have a rough type of a look too, but sticking with the original concept of the photo. Now I used soft Pastel to do this one with the added use of water to help provide texture.

Soft Pastel Experiment

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Today I decided to do a little experiment with soft pastel using water on a brush to blend it just to see how it would come out. I also used watercolor paper to see how it would like the texture. What I found was it loved the texture of the paper and adding water helped to get a much better texture on the page but also meant that the pastel didn't lift as easy of the page. I did two trials and this was the outcome.

Torago Reservoir Victoria, I've painted from a photo Julz took on the 13 04 2009 when we went for a long drive to Nerium. Torago Reservoir was on the way ands I seen a sign for it and thought why not lets have a look so of we went. Was a beautiful sight to see and such a peaceful place. Sadly though the water was way down under the normal amount.
Julz thanks for the photo
